It has been a few days-- and to the many James Dalton fans out there we say, sorry for the lack of new photos. It hasn't been for lack of effort, but to be honest he isn't doing anything different this week. More of the same-- sleeping, eating, staring, etc. He has been smiling, but not really at us-- at this stage the smiles are pretty random, and as such impossible to catch in a photo. We are trying to establish some sort of daily rhythm. He is doing really well at night, managing to sleep in three hour increments, wake up, eat and go back to sleep. The days have been a little more difficult to figure out, but we are working on it.
Here is a photo of James Dalton and the feeding cup. We are supplementing his breastfeeding with pumped milk served from a tiny cup, as feeding him from a bottle would confuse his sucking reflexes. It is crazy to hear him slurping away.
Also included is a photo of Keska with the baby. Both dogs are mildly curious about the baby-- its hard for them to resist anything with so many interesting smells. However, overall they don't pay him much attention. They don't mind when he screams, and he doesn't flinch when they bark in the middle of the night and wake all the adults up.
Finally is a photo of Kat and James relaxing after a feeding.
