Week 37

Well, we have made it to the point where we can have the baby at home, and we are relieved--- both to be here, and that the house is ready. We continue to "live" downstairs, but the baby room is completely set up and ready to go upstairs. The baby will sleep next to our bed initially anyway, so the difference in floors is not an issue right now- access to all the baby 'stuff' is the important thing.

Our weekly midwife appointment was yesterday-- we met Mylene, the only midwife in the group we hadn't met yet. Usually there are one or two other pregnant ladies in the waiting room, yesterday there were about five very pregnant women and their partners-- I am telling you, that room was packed.

Mike has settled down A LOT since staircase completion. I think it took two full nights of sleep to truly catch up. Now he can putter around at a slower pace, just working on some of the many little projects that surround us. Without the staircase to focus on, he has definitely started thinking more about the baby. As he says, is a lot easier to take care of in its current location than it will be when it makes it outside! I, for one, am totally in favor of a change in venue.
